Tells us a little about yourself?
I’m a landscape photographer living in Tooting and I travel the UK and France with my climbing and mountaineering taking photos were I can.

What type of art work do you do?
I specialise in high quality printing from my images using both digital & conventional techniques.  I use art papers to produce beautiful permanent images.

What inspires you / influences your work?
As a photographer my influences are old school with inspiration from Man Ray, Fay Godwin and Bill Brandt evident in my images.

How did you come to be doing this type of work?
I originally trained as an architectural photographer for the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments before discovering the beauty of the British Isles.

Where did you develop your work?
My technical training was at Paddington College and at the above mentioned RCHM.  Eventually I applied architectural technique to landscape photography.

Why are you taking part in Wandsworth Artists Open House?
I thought I’d be interested to see what local people thought about photography in the area and if there was any interest in buying art photography from local photographers.

What can visitors to your open house look forward to?
A glass of rosé, some savoury biscuits and some bloody good photography!

Whose work are you looking forward to seeing in the Wandsworth Artists Open House?
Oh my Lord…there are so many brilliant artists opening their homes & work places I actually wish I wasn’t exhibiting but could have shot round all the artists in the Furzedown area and had a good look at their various works.

What do you like about being an artist living or working in Tooting and Furzedown?
I love Tooting, especially the common! I have taken some of my most popular work early in the morning on the common and surrounding areas.

Who is your favourite artist / art work and why?
I’d have to say Fay Godwin.  At college she was a hero taking on the government over rights of way yet still producing amazing images of beautiful little known areas, like the Ridgeway in Wiltshire, or the Royal Mllitary Canal in Hastings.  An iconic photographer sadly missed.

What new projects do you have planned next?
UKlandscape, my group website gallery, is organising a national tour of Icelandic images from my UKL colleague Ms Sophie Martin-Castex.

And finally, where can your work be seen or do you have any exhibitions planned?
I’m photographer in residence at Starbucks Balham where three of my Tooting Bec Common photos can be seen and starting December 2010 I have a major landscape exhibition in Leicester Square Library W1.

Thank you! Brian’s work is at venue 70.
