Family Mosaic Workshops  –  Create a unique family mosaic together!

As a mosaic artist and experienced facilitator I will work with you from the process of design to completion of your piece of family art. You do not have to be skilled at drawing or ‘art’ – with a bit of guidance, mosaics is accessible to all, including children. I will spend time helping you to find inspiration and sketch your  design – which can range from one piece to several.

For Who

Minimum age of participants would be approximately 5 years old – it is for parents / carers to judge the ability and concentration span of little ones to participate and of course to be responsible for their children throughout. The minimum number of participants is two, maximum is 5 (due to studio space).

‘Family’ means whatever you want it to mean! You can invite more members of your family who are not in the workshop to add pieces to the mosaic too!

The Possibilities

You can create:

  • wall art to hang in your home – a  large panel or several small panels (eg. a triptych of linked pictures).
  • a table for your home or garden
  • mosaic the initials of each family member for display on a mantelpiece or wall (the size is up to you!) or letters to form a word that is important to you as a family
  • a range of family mosaic flower pots
  • garden art such as sphere’s or other 3d pieces
  • beautiful mirrors
  • mosaics of favourite album covers / characters etc..
  • mosaic door number plaque / welcome sign

There are so many possibilities and I will help you narrow down to one that will work with your family group and simplify the design so that it works in mosaic form.

This workshop is a ‘learn as you do it’ experience. We will get stuck straight into the process of creating your art and I will teach you some of the basics of mosaic as we go along.

The workshops will be run in one or two hour slots depending on the age / attention span of your family members.

The charge is £35 an hour plus the cost of materials. To create your piece of family art, you will need a minimum of 5 sessions but ideally 6 – 8. You can choose how many you want depending on how big you want to make your piece,  how confident you feel once you get going and how much you work together  on your mosaic in between sessions. I will be flexible in scheduling the sessions to take into account your progress. The only requirement is that 5 sessions are paid for in advance.

Where and when?

The sessions will normally be run in my studio in Furzedown, Tooting. I can also discuss running them in your home, depending on space, safety etc… (travel costs would be additional). Evening sessions are possible after 7.30pm. Weekend sessions are also available.
