Open house workshops

Activities in Tooting and Furzedown during Wandsworth Artists Open House

We have a fabulous range of workshops taking place in artists’ open houses this year. Some are drop-in over both weekends, others need pre-booking, full details are provided below. No previous experience is needed for the workshops and artists and crafters will be on hand to provide materials, guidance and inspiration! The number in brackets refers to the location of the workshop on the art trail. Create & make!

Artist’s talk every weekend at 11.30am

Ken McCalla will be giving a free artist talk/presentation about his work at 11.30am on each morning of the Open House weekends. (68).

Fused Glass Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd October 2011

Make a fused glass pendant, coaster or small glass mosaic.  Mandy Treptow will be running a drop-in workshop during the first weekend (1st & 2ndOct) of open house. Mandy will then fire your design for you to collect the following weekend (8th & 9th).  No cutting is required so all skill levels and even children (with a parent or carer supervising) can join in. Cost will be £8 for every item to cover materials and firing costs plus £1 to post the item after firing if you can’t pick up. (Venue 73)

Textile flower brooch making Saturday 8th October and Sunday 9th October

Make a brooch or fascinator from Fabric Nation’s collection of vintage textiles with Gillian Elam. Drop-in workshop during the second Open House weekend. Costs £5. Open to all ages (Venue 73).

We will be making brooches where you can choose from our amazing fabric and button collection to design and craft your own brooch or hair clip.  These brooches look fab, but are deceptively simple to make.
